About

The Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival is Suwon’s premier comprehensive arts and culture festival, which reinterprets King Jeongjo’s eight-day royal procession to Hwaseong in 1795 with a modern sensibility. Historical moments recorded in *Wonhaeng-eui Myojeong-ri Uigwe* are brought to life through performances, parades, hands-on activities, and citizen participation programs, taking place throughout the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Suwon Hwaseong Fortress and the Hwaseong Haenggung Palace area. The signature program, the “King Jeongjo Royal Procession,” is the largest royal parade in Korea, enjoyed by both citizens and tourists alike, showcasing the festival’s majestic charm. Furthermore, visitors can enjoy traditional cultural experiences and participatory programs during the day, and high-quality performances set against the beautiful backdrop of Suwon Hwaseong Fortress at night, offering a unique festival experience to tourists from both Korea and abroad.
