About
The 2026 National Heritage Media Art Festival at the Cheorwon Labor Party Headquarters is a nighttime cultural and arts event that reinterprets the historical value and sense of place of national heritage through media art, using the Cheorwon Labor Party Headquarters—which preserves the history of the Korean War and the division of the Korean Peninsula—and the surrounding Cheorwon History and Culture Park as its setting. The theme of the event is “Peace in Flight: From Memory to Empathy, Beyond Healing to the Future!” It expresses memories of the past through light and video and conveys messages of peace and healing. The event features a media facade utilizing the exterior walls of the Labor Party Headquarters, as well as interactive media, AR experiences, light installations, AI media art, citizen-participation content, and performances. Key highlights include a presentation of “Pro PACE: For Peace” by world-renowned media artist Jan Ngema, tailored to the site’s unique context and history, as well as programs that express Cheorwon’s history, literature, and citizens’ stories through media art and performances. The event is closed every Tuesday during the festival period, as well as on September 25 (Chuseok). At the venue, docent-led tours, special performances, and hands-on programs will be available.
