About

The 4th Chilgok Transmedia Festival is a culture and arts festival held in the Waegwan-eup area of Chilgok County. It is designed to allow visitors to experience the region’s spaces and cultural resources in new ways by combining them with various media content. This year’s festival centers on the friendship between poet Gu Sang and painter Lee Jung-seop, expanding the lives and artistic worlds of these two artists through content spanning literature, visual arts, media, and performance. Notably, the festival breaks away from the traditional model of concentrating content in a single venue; instead, it operates as a “spatially mobile” festival, where visitors move through everyday spaces throughout Waegwan-eup to experience the programs firsthand. Festival participants will move along a predetermined route through designated spaces, sequentially encountering exhibitions, media content, hands-on activities, and performance programs. The festival is structured so that the characteristics of each space and its content are interconnected to form a cohesive festival experience. Through this, the festival aims to transform everyday local spaces into venues for experiencing culture and the arts, and to reinterpret the region’s cultural resources and stories as new forms of content. Furthermore, the festival aims to promote the value of literature and art through the relationship and works of the two artists, Gu Sang and Lee Jung-seop, and to provide local residents and visitors with the opportunity to experience culture and the arts by walking through the streets of Wha-gwan.
