Gunsan Jjamppong Festival

The Gunsan Jjamppong Festival is a premier culinary festival featuring jjamppong, Gunsan’s signature dish. It offers visitors the chance to savor the flavors of Gunsan jjamppong, which is packed with fresh seafood from the sea and an abundance of local agricultural products. Until the early 1970s, the Chinese community in Gunsan made “Choma-myeon,” a noodle dish made with pork, beef,chicken bones, known as “Choma-myeon.” It evolved into the jjamppong we enjoy today through the addition of fresh seafood—a hallmark of this port city—and spicy red pepper powder tailored to Korean tastes. The event venue will feature not only Chinese food booths and food stalls but also various hands-on programs centered on jjamppong, as well as a variety of stage performances, promising to offer visitors a special culinary experience and plenty of fun.
