Seongju Gayasan Golden Fields Grasshopper Festival

The “Seongju Gayasan Golden Fields Grasshopper Festival,” Seongju County’s signature fall festival, is a community-led, eco-friendly rural experience festival set against the backdrop of the pristine nature of Gayasan Mountain and the Daegacheon River, as well as the golden fields. The festival features rural experience programs such as grasshopper catching, a grasshopper observation area, sweet potato digging, apple fishing, and catfish catching, as well as an autumn sports day with activities like popping pumpkins, playing jegi (traditional shuttlecock kicking), group jump rope, and rubber shoe archery—all designed for families, from children to seniors, to enjoy together. Additionally, there will be hands-on activities such as the “One Heart” rice cake pulling, rice cake stamping, a stamp tour, a capsule treasure hunt, a golden field treasure hunt, a traditional games area, and a wooden playground, as well as performances like cotton candy shows, a circus challenge, and a “Tall Clown” balloon show. The festival will also feature free tastings of livestock products, sales and promotions of local agricultural specialties, and restaurants and food trucks, adding to the festive atmosphere with a variety of sights and culinary delights.
