About

The 6th Gamak Mountain Flower & Star Festival is a major fall festival held from September 18 to October 11, 2026, in the area around Byeolbaram Hill at the summit of Gamak Mountain in Sinwon-myeon, Geochang County. This year’s theme is “A Purple Pause for Me,” featuring a blend of diverse performances, hands-on activities, and culinary delights set against the backdrop of autumn’s charm and the natural scenery of Gamak Mountain. The festival officially kicks off on September 18 with an opening ceremony, featuring pre-ceremony performances, an opening performance, and a tour of the Korean aster garden. Throughout the festival, visitors can enjoy a variety of stage performances, including busking, the “Sunset Hill Concert,” a celebratory performance by the Geochang Music Society, and a magic show for children. There are also plenty of hands-on activities. Visitors can receive souvenirs by participating in photo zones set up throughout the venue, a stamp tour, and social media check-in events. A “slow mailbox” will be set up on Byeolbaram Hill, where visitors can write letters to be received before next year’s event, offering plenty to see. Food is another major highlight of the festival. At the Kkotbyeol Market, featuring local farms and businesses, visitors can discover Geochang’s specialty products and processed goods. Additionally, at the food market operated by the Nam-sang-myeon and Sin-won-myeon Women’s Associations, visitors can enjoy hearty meals such as bibimbap, soup with rice, jeon (Korean pancakes), and tofu kimchi at affordable prices, while the food truck zone offers light bites like coffee, sikhye (sweet rice drink), and hot dogs. For this year’s 6th Gamaksan Flower Star Tour, visitors without their own cars can use the shuttle bus service; those driving their own vehicles should check the website and make a reservation in advance before visiting.
