Danyang Ondal Cultural Festival

The Danyang Ondal Cultural Festival is a representative cultural festival steeped in history, held every October in Danyang County, North Chungcheong Province, and based on the beautiful legend of General Ondal, a hero of the Goguryeo Kingdom, and Princess Pyeonggang. The festival features a variety of programs, including the grand Departure Ceremony for General Ondal and the Victory Parade, as well as a tour of Ondal Mountain Fortress where visitors can experience the historical site firsthand, and a Goguryeo marketplace showcasing the lifestyle of the era. In addition, the festival offers a rich array of activities, including the chance to try on Goguryeo-era costumes, various hands-on programs based on the Goguryeo period, and traditional folk games that the whole family can enjoy. Visitors to the Ondal Tourist Area will experience the spirit of Goguryeo with all five senses and encounter a scene from history that feels as vivid as if it were happening right before their eyes.
