Gijang Town Fortress Festival

The “2026 Gijang Fortress Festival” is a cultural and tourism experience festival taking place from October 9 to 11 on the lawn in front of the Gijang Modern History Museum and in the surrounding area. Set against the backdrop of local historical and cultural sites such as the Gijang Fortress and the Gijang Modern History Museum, the festival features a variety of programs including performances, reading sessions, films, hands-on activities, and guided tours. Major programs include the Eumseong Music Play Bar, book concerts, the “Neighborhood BIFF,” traditional performing arts shows, challenge dances, the “Pungryu Wave” performance, a reading club, and a pet Reels video festival. At the Gijang Modern History Museum, visitors can participate in pop-up workshop experiences, “Slow and Rest” healing experiences, and docent-led walking tours of Gijang Fortress. Throughout the festival, ongoing hands-on programs will also be available, including the Gijang Amulet Research Institute, the Companion Stone Adoption Center, the Eumseong Goods Shop, and the Eumseong Play Zone. The Gijang Fortress Festival is designed not merely as a showcase of the region’s historical and cultural resources through performances and exhibitions, but as a festival featuring programs that allow visitors to actively participate and engage firsthand.
