About

The Chilgok Nakdong River Peace Festival is held to honor the historical significance of the Battle of the Nakdong River—which served as the final line of defense during the Korean War—and to reflect on the spirit of patriotism. The festival features a variety of programs designed to commemorate the values of the Republic of Korea that ordinary people risked their lives to defend in 1950 and to express gratitude to those who protected the nation. The 13th edition of the festival, to be held in 2026, will feature performances, hands-on activities, and and food offerings centered on the theme of peace. Additionally, under the slogan “A Boy Becomes a Child Soldier,” the festival has further strengthened its historical and peaceful message by planning programs to shed light on the existence of young child soldiers—who have received relatively little attention compared to the student soldiers, often highlighted as symbols of national defense—and to honor their spirits.
