About

The Mato Arts Festival is Anjeong-ri’s flagship cultural and arts festival, with the name signifying “an arts festival held on the last Saturday of the month.” It operates as a themed festival that reflects the seasons and local characteristics by selecting a different theme for each edition in June and October. In October, under the theme “Broadway in Anjeong-ri,” the festival will feature musical-centered performances along with unique experiential and event programs, transforming Anjeong-ri Artists’ Plaza into a musical theater stage. The festival will feature a diverse lineup of performances, including themed shows starring professional musical actors and ensembles, a wind quintet performance by the U.S. Eighth Army Band, and performances by local artists. Additionally, the festival will offer participatory cultural and artistic content that citizens, foreigners, and visitors can enjoy together, including a stamp-tour-style experience program where visitors can become Broadway actors themselves, unique experiential activities and events, and a red-carpet photo zone. In particular, performances by the U.S. Eighth Army Band—which reflect the unique characteristics of the Anjeong-ri area—will create opportunities for cultural exchange between the local community and U.S. military personnel, while the diverse cultural and artistic content will offer a festival experience that transcends generations and nationalities.
