About
The 22nd Po-eun Cultural Festival is a historical and cultural festival that honors the life and spirit of Po-eun Jeong Mong-ju and shares traditional culture with the public. In 2026, marking the 620th anniversary of the reburial of Po-eun Jeong Mong-ju, the festival will be held under the theme “The Breath of Po-eun—Carrying On the Legacy of 620” from October 10 to 11 in the area surrounding the tomb of Po-eun Jeong Mong-ju in Mohyeon-eup, Cheoin-gu, Yongin City. Through a funeral procession and a memorial rite, the festival reflects on the legacy of Po-eun Jeong Mong-ju, while also offering opportunities to experience traditional arts through a commemorative ceremony, celebratory performances, the Yongin City Folk Arts Festival, and performances by winners of the National Youth Traditional Music Competition. With a children’s civil service examination experience titled “Challenge! Little Top Scholar,” the Po-eun School, traditional cultural experiences, and citizen participation programs, this festival allows families to learn about and enjoy history together. The festival also features a variety of food trucks, local cuisine, and stalls selling agricultural specialties, fostering a sense of shared local culture. The “RE-BORN Mission,” which follows the Cheoin Fortress Cultural Festival in September, is a participatory program that connects the historical narratives of both festivals as participants carry out missions for the “Cheoin Guardians,” allowing them to experience Yongin’s history and culture firsthand.
