About

The Hwasun Unju Cultural Festival is a premier cultural festival held at Hwasun Unju Temple, a mystical sacred site where a thousand Buddha statues and stone pagodas are nestled in every valley. Within the serene grounds, where the legend of the Reclining Buddha—which has lain there for a thousand years—blends with countless stone pagodas, a diverse array of cultural and artistic programs unfolds that everyone—young and old, men and women—can enjoy together. From heart-stirring traditional bell-ringing and Pungmul performances to musical performances across a wide range of genres, the festival buzzes with excitement, complemented by a wealth of interactive missions and traditional and cultural experiences as visitors explore every corner of Unju Temple. As autumn deepens, visitors can embark on a journey through time and space into the mysterious legends of the “Thousand Buddhas and Thousand Pagodas,” finding warm respite and creating special memories.
