About
Art Gwangju is the largest international art fair in the Honam region, offering a comprehensive overview of trends in domestic and international contemporary art and the art market all in one place. It serves as a gathering place where domestic and international galleries, artists, and collectors come together to showcase their works, discover new artistic values, and engage in cultural exchange, acting as a hub for cultural and artistic exchange that connects the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions with the global art world. It is hosted by the Gwangju-Jeonnam Integrated Special City and organized by the Gwangju Cultural Foundation and Art Gwangju. Art Gwangju 26 features approximately 110 galleries from 12 countries, including the Middle East and Europe, showcasing diverse trends in contemporary art such as painting, sculpture, and media art. In particular, through special curated exhibitions—*Heroes of Contemporary Art*, *Proposal*, *Rising Star*, and *Spectrum*—the fair expands its exhibition value by presenting a wide range of carefully selected artworks, collections from local collectors, and works by young artists from Gwangju and Jeonnam. Art Gwangju aims to go beyond the art market—where works are bought and sold—to serve as a venue for international cultural and artistic exchange where the value of art and new creative works are discovered, and where the region and the world interact. Through this, it seeks to broaden the base of the art scene in Gwangju and South Jeolla Province and lay the groundwork for sustained growth.
